The best Polish language thesaurus is now available on your phone.

The inspiration for creating the thesaurus "When You Run Out of Words" was the English thesaurus by Jerome Rodale, The Synonym Finder. This thesaurus is very extensive (over a million synonyms) and user-friendly: the entries are alphabetically arranged, making it easy to quickly find the desired word and its synonyms.

A similar Polish language thesaurus, combining a large number of entries and their alphabetical arrangement, was not available on the market in the 1980s when I decided to embark on creating such a thesaurus.

While compiling "When You Run Out of Words," I tried to include as many entries as possible. Each entry was individually developed, distinguishing their distinct meanings and not limited to just synonyms but also providing numerous phrases. The choice of synonyms is very rich; for example, for the word "quick," I provide 75 synonyms, and for the adjective "sharp," I found 121 synonymous words and phrases.

In most cases, I treated verbs separately in their perfective and imperfective forms and included reflexive forms. If an adjective has a corresponding adverb, the latter was extensively covered as well. For nominal entries, I provided diminutive and augmentative forms. The thesaurus includes archaic words, historical terms, and vulgarisms. Alongside words, I also extensively included expressions.

The paper version of the dictionary had two editions: the first in 2005, and the second expanded to over 42,000 entries on around 1200 pages. It is still available for mail order.

Daily interaction with the language serves as a constant source of new entries - and the online version of the dictionary allows for its regular continuous updating.

Undoubtedly, this is not a perfect work; the selection of entries and choice of synonyms are subjective, so I would appreciate any feedback.
